Welcome to The Dungarees Club.

A weekly journal documenting the process of building this brand from the ground up.

The Dungarees Club
Episode 1
The First Six Months

This weeks dunga diaries is going to be about the first six months of Myles and Me ✨

Six months ago I’d just got back from a family trip to Bali/Singapore and after a discussion with a close friend the idea came around about starting my own dungarees children’s brand.

It was only an idea that spiralled and turned into what it is today.

I am an ICU Nurse by background currently on maternity leave and thought “what am I doing I’ve got no business experience (except a business GCSE I couldn’t remember), let alone starting my own company!”

I got researching the web and current market, using my personal Assistant chat GPT, to guide me in the right direction. Now I had somewhere to start.

Over the past six months I’ve been working on the foundations of the brand. Defining what it stands for, researching manufacturers, testing samples, and learning how the entire process works from the inside.

One of the biggest challenges has been finding the right manufacturer.

For me, this wasn't just about finding someone who could produce the product. It was about finding a factory that aligns with the values I want this brand to represent.

That meant a lot of research, conversations, and sampling.

I’ll be sharing the whole sampling process in a future post because choosing the right factory is one of the most important decisions when building a clothing brand.

At the same time I’ve had to learn the world of social media. It’s been a learning curve in itself as I’m no content creator. That first talking head video, oh my… it took about 40 minutes worth of recording and a lot of editing (that my sister kindly did for me). Safe to say I’m a lot more confident now and practice really does make it all better.

Since the arrival of our dungarees it’s been go go go. We had our content shoot day, which was amazing. We had 10 little models rocking the dungs! The pictures are just incredible and I love every single one. We’ve officially launched as you’ll all be aware of and we’ve made our first sales. To say I was made up was an understatement.

There’s still work happening behind the scenes, but the foundations are finally coming together.

If you're reading this, you're officially part of The Dungarees Club and I’m glad you’re here.
