The Finer Details of the Dungarees

This weeks Dunga Diaries we're diving into the detail of the dungarees.

When I first started designing the dungarees, I knew I didn’t just want to create another piece of children’s clothing.

I wanted to create something that felt thoughtful. Something that children could wear, move in, play in and truly live in.

Every small detail was considered during the design process.

The fabric was one of the most important parts for me. Children’s skin is delicate, so using organic materials was always non negotiable. I wanted the dungarees to feel soft, breathable and comfortable enough for everyday adventures.

Durability was another big focus. Kids are constantly on the move, climbing, crawling, running and exploring. So the dungarees needed to be able to handle all of that while still looking beautiful.

I also thought a lot about longevity.

Children grow quickly, and clothing often doesn’t get worn for very long. I wanted to design something that could last longer, be worn again and again, and ideally be passed down. The adjustable shoulder straps have a decent amount of length and the legs can also be turned up if needed.

That idea sits at the heart of our brand.

Creating clothing more thoughtfully, using better materials and producing pieces that are made to be worn, loved and passed down to the younger siblings, cousins or friends.

It’s easy to focus on the finished product, but so many small decisions sit behind every piece.

These dungarees are really the result of all those little details coming together.

A little low down on the motif and why we chose the icons we did. Firstly the star, Myles is our little star and he brights up our day so it was fitting. We call Myles, Smiley Myles as he (up until recently) was the smiliest boy you'd ever meet. At the minute he's going through a stage, that's all I'll say haha. Of course the dachshund, if you've been following my socials from the start you'll know why. But we have a dog called Willow and that's why we featured a silhouette of a dachshund as she was our OG fur baby! It's only right she has her place there.
